Despite the court order granting Emefiele bail, men of the Department of state security (DSS) still did not adhere to the order given by judge Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High court Ikoyi.

The embattled, suspended CBN governor was on Tuesday granted bail by the Federal High court Ikoyi in the sum of N20 million and bringing one surety.

Shortly after the court section on Tuesday, the battle of who to take the suspended CBN custody ensued by operatives of DSS and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). After the court proceeding came to an end, even with an order for Emefiele to be remanded pending his perfection of bail in Ikoyi Facility of NCS. Operative of DSS stationed themselves to rearrests the Suspended CBN governor. This was highly resisted by NCS operative who later gave in and let Emefiele to be rearrested.

In the video circulating the Internet we could see how operatives of DSS in black outfit with their faced covered with mask was at the premises of Federal High court with their Hilux. More than 10 operatives were present and was seen to be manhandling an operative of NCS who was resisting them.

Emefiele was later on rearrested by DSS and was whisk away by them. This event has made the family of the suspended CBN governor and lawyers representing him worried and called on DSS to obey court orders. This is the third court other DSS is refusing to obey to release Emefiele.

Many Nigerians are not happy with the way the DSS are acting as it is against the rule of law. The family and lawyers of Emefiele highly condemned the act as unfortunate in a democratic dispensation. The act by operatives of DSS stands to be condemned as flagrant abuse of power. The president needs to call them to order and investigate what transpired.

  1. It's no news that there's no rule of law in Nigeria. May God save the elements of our separation of powers.

  2. When even our lawyers don't respect the law and constitution, who are we to blame? The land or the serfs?
