The incident happened on Tuesday during a copa
libertadores match in Buenos Aires.
Many people express their feelings, as the majority of people believe it was an accident and unintentional.
The veteran defender Marcelo described the incident as one of his toughest moments on the pitch.
There are many concerns about whether that is the end of the player's football career, but doctors have assured them that the injury is not worse than people think. The player can come back to his feet in about 12 weeks'time.
Many horrible injuries have happened in football history but the players later return to action.
A player worthy of mention who suffered horribly in this regard is former France international Djibril Cisse, who almost got his two legs amputated.

Other players who had worse injuries that almost ended their careers include: Hendrick Larsson, Alan Smith, Kerian Dyer, Francesco Totti, Luc Nilis, Petr Cech, Andre Gomes, Alex Vidal, Eduardo, Luke Shaw and others but later came back to continue their careers.
Since injuries in sport are almost inevitable, players
should play with safety and the fans should be optimistic that injury is not
the end.
Instead of spending a lot of time thinking about the dangers of sports, let's as well think about the benefits that it brings which have outnumbered the dangers.
