Niger Coup: PDP Governors Forum Advices Tinubu Not to Go into War with Niger.

The People's Democratic Party Governor's forum under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir has advised the President Bola Ahmad Tinubu and the Federal Republic of Nigeria not to go into war with Niger Republic

The Bauchi state governor said this during a press briefing after the PDP Governors forum meeting held at Abuja on Saturday, 5th of August.

News have it that the military government in Niger which overthrew the democratically elected leadership of President Bazoum has refused to surrender power despite 7 days ultimatum given by ECOWAS

In a statement by the Nigerian president and the Chairman of the ECOWAS said that the west african bloc will take all necessary measures to return constitutional order in niger and that "such measures may include the use of force".

“The ECOWAS leadership will not accept any action that impedes the smooth functioning of legitimate authority in Niger or any part of West Africa,” the statement added.

This has led to the ECOWAS led by president Tinubu to start preparation on deploying Nigerian army to restore power in Niger but the process was delayed as the Nigerian senate refused to approve the request by the president to deploy troops to Niger as part of ECOWAS force

Despite the coups in Mali, Burkina-Faso and Chad republic this is the first time ECOWAS has threatened military action to return the Democratic Government in the region.
