Marijuana refers to the leaves and flowering portions of cannabis when used as a drug, intoxicant, or medicine. Marijuana is primarily smoked or ingested orally when used for its psychoactive effects. The major component of Marijuana is cannabinoid, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which produces relaxation, sedation, and perceptual distortion.

Studies have found marijuana to be medicinally used as an appetizer, pain reliever, recreational purposes, to cure anxiety in some individuals. THC affects the area of the brain that controls memory and attention, balance, posture, coordination and reaction time. THC also triggers the release of Dopamine resulting in release of feelings of pleasure. It affects the sensory perception making colors seem brighter, music more vivid and elevates emotions.
