The life of an average University student is not as fantastic as most people believe. Many students live on the bare minimum and try to make ends meet through severe management strategies. Sometimes this is never enough as there are many things to consider like the books, feeding, accommodation not to mention the occasional desire to just let loose and relax when the stress becomes overbearing. Such suffering is even more pronounced now that the naira’s value continues to sink just like the titanic did. When all this come together, it becomes a hose on the neck of the students and can even affect their concentration skills. There are admittedly smart ways to avoid this. Here’s to eleven side jobs you could be doing as a Nigerian University student and still have the time to study:

·         Selling handmade goods

·         Tutoring

·         Becoming an online influencer

·         Graphic designing

·         Babysitting

·         Hair making

·         Freelance writing

·         Food and small chops

·         Website and app design

·         Artworks.

To begin with, you could earn a lot more on the side as a university student by selling handmade goods like bags, beads, palm shoes and others. Students are campus are usually excited about things like this and can easily patronize the seller. Just wrap in a little pretty design or two to make it look very interesting in their eyes.

Another hustle to always consider in the university environment is tutoring. If you are a student that is an academic superior to other average students, this is quite a lucrative way of maintaining financial stability in the university. Other students can be easily tutored in challenging fields like chemistry, physics, philosophy, law and others and you can make money while doing so.

Thirdly, it is advisable to explore the world of the influencers. Many Nigerian teens are making it big in the industry by being influencers and tiktok stars. You can also do the same; dip your feet in the water and you might actually get famous. All you need is a camera, a sense of humor and a conversational vibe. It does not cost a naira and you might be among the people here.

The next side business that should be considered in that of graphic design. It is one of the few skills that continue to enjoy relevance. If you are student with a knack for these things, put your talent to good use and make money while doing it. The field of digital graphic design is even more provocative in bringing in extra funds for a person.

Another interesting side job a student can indulge in is the babysitting job. Many female Nigerian university students get married and have kids before they round up their studies. If you are a student in need of funds, you can easily take care of someone’s child and make money while doing it. The tricky part about this job us that it requires someone with a lot of time on their hands so this business might not be for everybody. You should perhaps move on to the next skill.

There is a strong emphasis on hair making because students are always changing their hairstyles that is, both the ladies and the guys. If you are knowledgeable in this aspect, you can easily resort to making their hair. Trust, this type of business never ends as long as the hair on their head continues to grow.

Freelance writing comes next. This is literally the perfect side business for a university student. There are always some organizations and even students who need other people to help them write. You can be that person. You can write for money and earn without directly being under the control of a company. Freelance writing is highly flexible and can be easily fitted into a tight schedule.

We are truly in the digital era and a person who is a digital literate automatically gains an upper hand over others. If you are that person then it is time to make good use of your strengths. Many people are in search of individuals that can design websites, applications and other technologically driven fantasies. You can easily engage in such and make a fortune out of it.

The food and small chops business should have been naturally mentioned earlier on due to its importance. Nigerian universities thrive on food and chops in fact, it defines them to an extent for example the Mac D of Ahmadu Bello University is so popular among its peers. An innovative student can easily indulge others by making these chops, selling them and getting paid for it. The profit easily outweighs the cost and is generally credible.

The last on the list is artworks. Artworks could be drawings, paintings, carvings, sculptures etc. anything with a substantial intrinsic value is enough to retain their attention. Once again it is the university environment so naturally, buyers of art works will be thrilled to own something that has not been scarred by culture industry. If you are a university student with an artistic talent and have not explored the financial opportunities then, you are honestly to be blamed for your situation.
